Dr. Jody Hicks | DVM
Veterinarian
About Dr. Hicks
Dr. Jody Hicks grew up in a small town near Missoula, Montana. She graduated from Carroll College in Helena, Montana, with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She continued her education at Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she completed her DVM in 2001.
Dr. Hicks began her career in the East Bay area of California as part of a mobile large animal practice. She moved to the Reno area in 2003, where she continued practicing as a large animal veterinarian. Dr. Hicks changed her area of focus in 2007 to small companion animal medicine. Her main areas of interest include ultrasonic exams and dentistry.
In her free time, Dr. Hicks enjoys hiking with her dog (Wyatt), riding motorcycles, or spending time with her draft horses (we don’t count how many!). She also has a cranky old “Kitty” and very mischievous cat named Ronald….who thinks he is part human!
Dr. Katherine Hewitt | DVM
Veterinarian
About Dr. Hewitt
Following graduation, Dr. Hewitt returned to Arizona where she completed a one-year internship at an emergency & referral specialty hospital. She then focused on what she loved most, working in general practice for 9 years in Phoenix. Desiring a change of scenery from the desert metropolis she relocated with her family to the Reno area in 2021. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, dog (Harper), and cat (Brie). She also enjoys group fitness classes, cooking and baking, and exploring the beautiful northern Nevada outdoors.
Dr. Hewitt finds the relationships built with people and their pets to be the most rewarding aspect of her profession. Some of her specific areas of interest include dentistry, preventive medicine, dermatology, and soft tissue surgery. She is very excited to be continuing her veterinary career with the Aspen Animal Wellness team.

Dr. Mindy Warley | DVM
Veterinarian
About Dr. Warley
I grew up in the Bay Area and developed a love of science and animals early on. During my senior year in high school, I worked at a veterinary hospital which really allowed me to see how wonderful this profession is. I attended UCLA where I rowed crew and majored in Biology, exploring the many career options in the animal sciences and ecology. My summer volunteering at the UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital cemented my passion to become a veterinarian and I took every opportunity to work and volunteer in the field until graduation.
In the year between my undergrad and starting at The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, I taught Algebra at one of my hometown high schools and realized how much I love teaching as well as medicine. After graduating from vet school in 2006, I moved to Phoenix where I practiced for 11 years before relocating with my family to Reno in 2017. I have found great joy in working with owners and helping them understand their pet’s medical conditions and treatment options as well as the long-term partnerships as we care for their pets together through the various stages of life. I have a special interest in dentistry, feline medicine, and geriatric care as well as working with each pet family to create a care plan that is optimal for their unique needs.
In addition to being a veterinarian, I love hiking, camping, and traveling with my husband and 6- and 9-year-old daughters. Since moving to Reno I’ve been able to take them backpacking and skiing in the same locations I went with my parents which has been a dream come true. In my spare time, you can usually find me in the backyard trying to master high desert gardening, taking care of our pets and chickens, volunteering in school and in the community, or planning our next adventure.
Dr. Amy Rock | DVM
Veterinarian
About Dr. Rock
Dr. Rock loves getting to know the families behind the furry faces she sees every day. She enjoys seeing all types of cases, but has a special interest in surgery and enjoys continuously learning new surgical procedures and techniques.
“The Rock Pack” includes Samson (a Texas stray turned therapy dog), Athena (a Vegas-born Pitweiler), and adventure-cat Kubo (a Colorado rescue who enjoys hiking and camping). In her free time, Dr. Rock loves cheering for the Vegas Golden Knights, working on DIY projects, and spending time outdoors with her husband and two young boys. Fun fact about Dr. Rock is that she is bilingual, being fluent in both English and Japanese.
Dr. Tori Indart | DVM, co-owner
Veterinarian
About Dr. Indart
Growing up my first cat, Cuddles, was my best buddy and playmate. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by a variety of animals (dogs, cats, horses, chickens, ducks, and rabbits) and was raised in a medical family. The two melded and instilled me with a passion for the veterinary profession.
After graduating from UC Berkeley, I went to veterinary school at Colorado State. I’ve been privileged to have a diverse career in veterinary medicine, but what I love most is connecting with people and making them happy by taking the best possible care of their pets. My goal is to always do the best job possible and provide friendly, exceptional care for our patients and their families, and I am grateful to be able to do so in Reno!
My husband Darrin, our college-aged twins, Ried and Kate, and I love the Reno-Tahoe area and take advantage of what our surroundings have to offer. In our free time, we can be found skiing at Mt. Rose, riding and hiking the beautiful trails in our area, and traveling as much as we can. Rosie, our French Brittany, and Tica, our black Lab, keep our house lively, too!
Dr. Betsy Phillips | DVM, co-owner
Veterinarian
About Dr. Betsy
I grew up near Kansas City, Missouri and enjoyed having cats and dogs as pets as well as raising orphaned wildlife (birds, cottontails, squirrels) and creating (temporary) natural habitats for bullfrogs in the guest bathroom. I graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia with a double major in biology and anthropology. I then enjoyed guiding horseback trail rides in Rocky Mountain National Park before attending veterinary school at the University of Missouri where I graduated summa cum laude.
My husband Greg and I moved to the Carson Valley after graduation and we love living in the Silver State! Time away from the clinic is spent hiking with my German Shepherd, Elke in the Sierras or on the water at Tahoe or following my kids to their myriad middle school and high school activities. Our cat Clementine also allows me to live in her world.
I take pride in helping owners provide the best medical care for their companions. Nutrition, socialization, preventative medicine and pain management are my favorite focuses for maximizing wellness. When pets have accidents or injuries, I strive to offer the best options for pets and their families whether that be diagnosis and treatment in my care, navigating referral to a specialist or palliative care to maximize quality of life.
